whimsical tales of hope and ambition

Disenchanted by Morgan Morrison. This is a retelling of Cinderella and also a fantasy retelling of the real world 1911 Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire that ends with courtroom drama. Cinderella’s father might be a successful merchant now, her step-mother a kind and talented businesswomen, but she struggles to convince them to not work with sweatshops. She’s determined to convince them because she saw firsthand how her mother was treated at one. Cinderella herself is treated all right in this retelling, instead she stands up to represent those who aren’t, and that makes this one of the most compelling Cinderellas of all.
